Assam Public Procurement Act, 2017
The Finance Department of the Government of Assam in consultation with World Bank Team constituted a Task Force for drafting a Public Procurement Policy and Public Procurement Act as well as to develop Procurement Rules and Standard Bidding Documents (SBD) in order to make Public Procurement more transparent and to execute schemes with high standards of quality and well in time.
The Chairman of the Task Force is Shri.Simanta Thakuria, IAS, Commisioner & Secretary to Government of Assam. The Vice Chairman is Prof (Dr) Mukulesh Barua, Director and ONGC Chair Professor Assam Institute of Management and the Member Convener is Dr.Mreeshi Agarwala, Assistant Professor, Assam Institute of Management.
The Task Force has successfully drafted the Assam Public Procurement Act, 2017, which received the assent of the Governor of Assam on 6-4-2017.
Further the Task Force is actively working for drafting the Rules and Regulations on Procurement and the Standard Bidding Documents. A meeting was conducted in the month of April, 2017 to streamline the process for the same.
